Commercial motor vehicle accident south of Alton – June 22

On Saturday, June 22, at 11:28 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 60, two miles south of Alton, IA.

Thay Moo, age 36, of Marshall, MN, was driving a 2019 Kenworth semi-tractor pulling a trailer northbound on Highway 60 when crossed the road closed barricades at Highway 60 and Jackson Ave intersection due to flood waters over Highway 60. Thay drove into the water over the roadway and lost control of the vehicle; the semi an trailer jackknifed across both lanes and into the median.

No injuries were reported.

The Kenworth sustained an estimated $10,000 in damage

Thay was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle and failure to obey traffic control device.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s office was assisted by the Orange City Police Department.
