Hinton woman arrested near Sioux Center after riding on train from Sioux City – May 3

On Friday, May 3, at 12:46 a.m.,  the Sioux County Sheriffs Office arrested Shannon Heckler, age 46, of Hinton IA.

The arrest stemmed from a report from Heckler, who called 911, to report that she was riding on a northbound BNSF Railway train car north of Sioux Center. IA. Sioux County Communications contacted the BNSF Railway who was able to contact the train crew to stop the train near Sioux Center; officers were able to locate Heckler.

Heckler reported that she climbed on the train in Sioux City, IA in an attempt to get to her home in Hinton.

Heckler was transported to the Sioux County Jail where she was charged with public intoxication and trespassing.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department.
