Driver fails to stop for deputy near Orange City, arrested for eluding and several other offenses – April 20

On Saturday, April 20, at 4:18 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested, Angel Manuel, age 24, Remsen, IA.

The arrest stemmed from a pursuit that began when a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle traveling at a high speed on Jackson Avenue north of Orange City, IA; the vehicle continued eluding the deputy, driving southbound on various streets through Orange City, eventually stopping on the south end of Orange City.

Upon further investigation, it was suspected that Manuel was under the influence of alcohol.

Manuel was transported to the Sioux County Jail, where he was charged with Eluding – (speed 25mph over the speed limit) and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated; additionally, he was cited for open container of alcohol in a vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license, three counts of speed violations, five counts of stop sign violations and failure to yield right of way.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Orange City Police Department.
