*National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is April 14-20*

During National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, held annually during the week of April 14-20, we honor the telecommunications personnel in the public safety community and thank them for dedicating their lives to serving the public.

Do you ever wonder who is the person behind our emergency calls to 9-1-1? All the public know about them is their voice. National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week has been set aside to recognize and celebrate the work of telecommunicators helping to save lives every day. We in Sioux County are blessed with professional telecommunicators doing their jobs every day, around the clock. They are not only the lifeline for the general public, but are also the lifeline for our deputies, police, fire and EMS personnel who encounter many unknown situations every day. Well trained telecommunicators and exceptional equipment is crucial to being prepared and helping to save lives.

The Telecommunicators at the Sioux County Public Safety Center know how much I appreciate each of them. This week, please join me as we honor and thank these unseen heroes who have chosen to serve in this demanding profession.
