*Updated: Vehicle located, driver charged* Information sought hit-and-run motor vehicle accident southwest of Rock Valley

Following the investigation that began on Friday, March 15, it was determined that on Tuesday, March 5, at approximately 11:40 p.m., Barry Spaans, age 32, of Rock Valley, IA, was the driver of the 2007 Chevrolet Impala traveling eastbound on 360th Street when he lost control of the vehicle, crossed the westbound lane and struck the guardrail on the north side of the bridge.

The Chevrolet Impala sustained approximately $4,000 in damage.

Spaans was cited for failing to maintain control of a motor vehicle and failing to report a property damage accident.

On Friday, March 15, at 2:59 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident that occurred on 360th Street; nine miles southwest of Rock Valley, IA.

The investigation revealed that a white colored vehicle was traveling eastbound on 360th Street when it crossed the westbound lane and struck the guardrail on the north side of the bridge; the driver left the scene without reporting the accident.

This incident occurred sometime between Tuesday, March 12 and Thursday, March 14. The vehicle will have extensive front-side damage.

The guardrail sustained approximately $7,000 in damage.
