Boyden residence destroyed by fire – January 16

On Tuesday, January 16, at 8:55 p.m., Sioux County Communications received a report of a residential fire that occurred at 803 Webb Street, in Boyden, IA.

The Boyden Fire Department and Boyden Ambulance were dispatched to the location; mutual assistance was requested from the Hull Fire Department and Sheldon Fire Department.

One person was inside the residence when the fire started and was able to safely get outside; they were transported by Boyden Ambulance to Orange City Area Health for precautionary reasons.

The home is considered a total loss, and damage was estimated in excess of $60,000.

In addition to the above fire departments, the Boyden Fire Department was assisted by Sioux County Emergency Management, American Red Cross, Iowa State Patrol and the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Boyden Fire Chief.
