Motor vehicle accident south of Hospers – January 6

On Saturday, January 6, at 3:17 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 60, one mile south of Hospers, IA.

Jesus Montes-Noyola, age 20, of Sheldon, IA, was driving a 2023 Chevrolet Colorado southbound on Highway 60. Shane Zellaha, age 61, of South Sioux City, NE was driving a 2007 Ford Mustang southbound on Highway 60. As Montes-Noyola attempted to pass, Zellaha lost control of his vehicle and struck the Chevrolet.

No injuries were reported.

The Chevrolet sustained approximately $2,500 in damage; the Ford sustained approximately $5,000 in damage.

Zellaha was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Orange City Police Department.
