Investigation of loose cattle leads to discovery of motor vehicle accident, driver’s arrest northeast of Sioux Center – December 6

On Wednesday, December 6, at 6:15 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested Juan Comacho, age 35, of Hull, IA.

The arrest stemmed from an incident where deputies were investigating a call of loose cattle on Harrison Avenue northeast of Sioux Center, IA. While in the area, deputies discovered a roll-over accident that occurred on Harrison Avenue.

Upon further investigation, they located a vehicle in the ditch driven by Comacho. It was discovered that Camacho was driving a 2002 GMC Yukon southbound on Harrison Avenue when he struck a cow on the roadway and entered the ditch. Deputies determined that Camacho’s drivers license was barred and a sheriff’s office K9 alerted on the vehicle; drug paraphernalia was discovered.  

No injuries were reported.

The GMC sustained approximately $7,500 in damage 

Camacho was transported to the Sioux County Jail where he was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a barred driver’s license and possession of drug paraphernalia.  

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department.
