Motor vehicle accident east of Sioux Center – December 1

On Friday, December 1, at 5:51 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on 400th Street; one mile east of Sioux Center, IA.

Cara Van Den Top, age 26, of Hull, IA, was driving a 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander westbound on 400th Street. Hope Johnson, age 35, of Orange City, IA, was driving a 2018 Ford Edge westbound on the same road behind the Mitsubishi. Van Den Top slowed to avoid deer on the roadway when she was struck by Johnson; after the collision, the Ford rolled onto the north ditch.

The Sioux Center Ambulance transported Johnson and two passengers from the Ford to Sioux Center Health for treatment of minor injuries.

The Mitsubishi sustained approximately $9,000 in damage. The Ford sustained approximately $20,000 in damage.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department, Sioux Center Ambulance and Sioux Center Fire Department.
