On Monday, November 20, at 6:58 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Eagle Avenue, four miles southwest of Rock Valley, IA.
Fernando Campuzano, age 31, of Cherokee, IA was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Cruz westbound on Eagle Avenue, when he lost control, struck a guardrail and entered the south ditch.
Campuzano was transported by the Rock Valley Ambulance to Hegg Health Center for treatment of minor injuries.
The Chevrolet sustained approximately $6,500 in damage. The guardrail, owned and maintained by the Sioux County Engineer’s Office, sustained approximately $750 in damage.
Campuzano was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle and failure to use seatbelt.
Impairment is suspected to be a factor in this accident, which remains under investigation.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Rock Valley Fire Department and Rock Valley Ambulance.
