On Monday, November 6, at 3:59 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on 440th Street, two miles northeast of Alton, IA.
Brierra Van Der Zwaag, age 16, of Sheldon, IA, was driving a 2003 Jeep Liberty Sport eastbound on 440th when she lost control, entered the south ditch, and rolled.
Van Der Zwaag was transported by the Alton Ambulance to Orange City Area Health for treatment of minor injures.
The Jeep sustained approximately $8,500 in damage.
Van Der Zwaag was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Orange City Police Department, Alton Fire Department and Alton Ambulance.
