On Monday, November 6, at 8:08 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 18 and Main Street, in Boyden, IA.
Jake Pedersen, age 29, of Sheldon, IA, was driving a 1992 Chevrolet Pickup southbound on Main Street; he stopped for the stop sign at Highway 18. Kristen Niemeyer, age 34, from Boyden, was driving a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica southbound on Main Street and was stopped behind Pedersen. A semi traveling westbound on Highway 18 began turning onto Main Street, Pedersen backed his vehicle and struck Niemeyer.
No injuries were reported.
Pedersen did not report any damage to the Chevrolet and damage to the Chrysler was estimated at $1,400.
Pedersen was cited for unsafe backing.
