On Sunday, October 22, at 2:02 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Jefferson Avenue, one mile north of Alton, IA.
Alan Woudstra, age 64, of Hospers, IA, was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox westbound on a private driveway. Samuel Reinders, age 30, of Alton, was driving a 2002 BMW motorcycle northbound on Jefferson Avenue. Woudstra drove onto Jefferson Avenue and the two struck.
Woudstra, Reinders, and a passenger in the Equinox were all transported by the Orange City Ambulance and Alton Ambulance to Orange City Area Health for treatment of their injuries.
Damage to the Chevrolet was estimated at $10,000; the and the motorcycle sustained an estimated $5,000 in damage.
Woudstra was cited for fail to yield when entering a roadway.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Alton Ambulance, Alton Fire Department, Orange City Police Department and Orange City Ambulance.
