On Sunday, October 15, at 1:57 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s office assisted the Sioux Center Police Department by investigating a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 75 (city street South Main Avenue) and 13th Street Southeast, in Sioux Center, IA.
Misael Arcos, age 19, of Le Mars, IA, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox southbound on Highway 75 when the Sioux Center Police Department attempted to stop Lopez Arcos for traffic violations. Arcos attempted to elude the officer. Arcos failed to negotiate the construction zone on Highway 75, struck a construction sign, continued southbound through the construction zone where the pavement had been removed and struck an embankment. Arcos fled on foot and was apprehended by officers of the Sioux Center Police Department.
No injuries were reported.
Damage to the Chevrolet was estimated at $10,000.
Arcos was arrested by the Sioux Center Police Department and transported to the Sioux County Jail.
