Motor vehicle accident northeast of Hawarden – September 24

On Sunday, September 24, at 3:11 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Cherry Avenue, four miles northeast of Hawarden, IA.

William Sandobal, age 27, of Hawarden, was driving a 2012 Ford Focus northbound on Cherry Avenue when he struck a deer on the roadway, lost control of the vehicle and entered the west ditch.

No injuries were reported.

The Ford sustained an estimated $10,000 in damage.

Sandobal was cited for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
