On Tuesday, September 19, at 5:34 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on 390th Street, two and one-half miles west of Sioux Center, IA.
Nicole Wielenga, age 42, of Ireton, IA, was driving a 2014 Ford F150 westbound on 390th Street. Jessica Ver Mulm, age 35, of Hawarden, IA, was driving a 2017 GMC Acadia westbound on 390th Street. Wielenga slowed for a truck that was turning onto a farm drive and Var Mulm struck Wielenga.
Ver Mulm was transported by the Sioux Center Ambulance to Sioux Center Health for treatment of minor injuries.
The Ford sustained approximately $5,000 in damage; the GMC sustained approximately $20,000 in damage.
Ver Mulm was cited for following too close.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Ambulance and Sioux Center Police Department.
