Two vehicles strike cow in motor accident northwest of Hospers – September 19

On Tuesday, September 19, at 9:05 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Kingbird Avenue, five miles northwest of Hospers, IA.

Kelly Griffith, age 57, of Hospers was driving 2004 Saturn Vue northbound on Kingbird Avenue. Scott Van Ravenswaay, age 31, of Little Rock, IA, was driving a 2014 Ford Fusion northbound on Kingbird Avenue behind Griffith.

A cow, owned by Hickory Hill Dairy of Hospers, had broken confinement and was on the roadway. Griffith struck the cow, Van Ravenswaay attempted to avoid Griffith, but also struck the cow on the roadway.

​No injuries were reported.

The Saturn sustained approximately $4,500 in damage; the Ford sustained an  $5,000 in damage.
