Report of possible impaired driver leads to arrests in Hawarden – September 20

On Wednesday September 20, at 4:14 p.m.  the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jordan Holmes , age 27, of Sioux City, IA.

The arrest stemmed from a report of a possible impaired driver leaving Ireton, IA, driving a Nissan Altima.

Deputies located the Nissan and stopped it in Hawarden, IA. Deputies suspected that Holmes was under the influence of a drug; while being placed under arrest, he attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended a short distance from the location.

Upon further investigation, a passenger in the vehicle, Heriberto Armenta-Robles, age 26, of Hawarden, was in possession of a controlled substance, a firearm, and was determined to be a felon.

Deputies transported Holmes to the Sioux County Jail where he was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and interference with official acts; he was cited for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.

The Hawarden Police Department transported Armenta-Robles to the Sioux County Jail where he was charged with felon in possession of a firearm, second offense possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, there were three outstanding arrest warrants for Armenta-Robles.

This case was a joint investigation between the sheriffs office and the Hawarden Police Department. The case remains under investigation with the possibility of additional criminal charges.
