Motor vehicle accident northeast of Ireton leads to arrest – September 17

On Sunday, September 17, at 12:27 a.m.,, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested Alex Rodriguez Sevilla, age 39, of Rock Valley.

The arrest stemmed from a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 10, three miles northeast of Ireton.

Sevilla was driving a 2015 GMC Terrain eastbound on Highway 10. Danica Lundgren, age 17, of Armstrong, IA, was driving a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 eastbound on Highway 10 behind Sevilla. Sevilla began slowing and Lundgren struck the GMC.

Lundgren was transported by the Ireton Ambulance to Hawarden Regional Healthcare for treatment of minor injuries.

The GMC sustained approximately $15,000 in damage; the Ram sustained approximately $10,000 in damage.

Lundgren was cited for following too close.

Upon further investigation, Deputies suspected that Sevilla was under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to the Sioux County Jail where he was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by Ireton Fire Department, Ireton Ambulance, and Hawarden Police Department.
