On Wednesday, August 30, at 5:32 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 18 and Colfax Street, in Boyden, IA.
Juan Lopez, age 44, of Hull, IA, was driving a 2006 Buick LaCrosse eastbound on Highway 18. Nerry Lopez, age 18, of Rock Valley, IA, was driving a 2008 Honda Odyssey eastbound on Highway 18 behind Juan Lopez. Juan Lopez was slowing to turn north onto Colfax Street, when Nerry Lopez struck the Buick.
Juan Lopez was treated by Boyden EMS at the scene for minor injuries.
Both vehicles sustained approximately $7,000 in damages.
Nerry Lopez was cited for following too close and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Boyden Ambulance and Boyden Fire Department.
