On Sunday, August 13, at 11:24 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested Arturo Monjaraz, age 21, of Toledo, OH.
The arrest stemmed from a 9-1-1 call made at 2:06 a.m. by Monjarez reporting that he ran out of gas and that his vehicle was in the ditch along Highway 60, one mile south of Alton, IA.
Upon further investigation, when deputies arrived, they discovered that Monjarez had lost control of the 2006 Honda Civic he was driving northbound on Highway 60, entered the east ditch and struck a fence.
No Injuries were reported.
Damage to the Honda was estimated at $10,000.
Deputies suspected that Monjarez was under the influence of alcohol.
Monjaraz was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and no motor vehicle liability insurance.
