On Sunday, August 8, at 12:54 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 60 and 400th Street, one mile east of Hospers, IA.
Dylan Anderson, age 20, of Wayne, NE, was driving a 2009 Lincoln MKZ northbound on Highway 60. Joseph Deverwaere, age 86, of Paullina, IA, was driving a 2013 Ford Edge westbound on 400th Street. Deverwaere failed to yield from the stop sign at Highway 60, entered the intersection and the two struck.
No Injuries were reported.
Damage to the Lincoln was estimated at $12,000; damage to the Ford was estimated at $4,000.
Deverwaere was cited for failure to obey stop sign.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by Hospers Fire Department.
