On Friday, July 28, at 11:20 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested Aydan Joslin, age 18, of Hospers, IA.
The arrest stemmed from an investigation that began on Thursday, July 27, at 12:25 a.m., after Sioux County Communications received a report of an individual trying to break into a vehicle at O.K. One Stop in Hospers.
Upon investigation deputies discovered that a 2007 GMC Yukon XL was taken without the owner’s consent. The vehicle was later found disabled, smoking and abandoned; the suspects fled the area on foot. Hospers Fire and Hospers Ambulance were paged to make sure the vehicle did not start on fire.
The vehicle sustained an estimated $4,500 in damage.
Through the investigation, Joslin was identified as the person who took and drove the vehicle from O.K. One Stop.
Joslin was transported to the Sioux County Jail where he was charged with burglary of a vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s licenses.
The incident remains under investigation.
