Motor vehicle accident west of Orange City – July 7

On Friday July 7, at 1:58 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 10, four miles west of Orange City, IA.

Savannah Boyd, age 16, of Sioux City, IA, was driving a 2011 Ford Fusion westbound on Highway 10 when her vehicle began hydropla due to the wet and raining conditions; she control of the vehicle, entered the north ditch and struck a MidAmerican Energy Company electrical utility pole.

No injuries were reported.

The Ford sustained an estimated $5,000 in damage.

The accident caused a power outage for some area residents; power was restored a short time late.

Boyd was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle and no liability insurance.
