Motor vehicle accident in Hospers – June 23

On Friday, June 23, at 3:37 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Hospers Drive South and 400th Street, in Hospers, IA.

Joseph DeBoer, age 35, of Sioux Center, IA, was driving a 2003 Ford Ranger westbound on 400th Street; he stopped for the stop sign at Hospers Drive South. Jose Salais, age 27, of Sioux City, IA, was driving a 2005 Ford Freestyle van southbound on Hospers Drive South. DeBoer entered the intersection and the two struck.

No injuries were reported.

Damage to the Ford Ranger was estimated at $3,000. The Ford Freestyle sustained approximately $5,000 in damage.

DeBoer was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign and operating a motor vehicle without required insurance. Salais was cited for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and operating a motor vehicle without required insurance.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Hospers Ambulance and Hospers Fire Department.
