On Sunday June 25, at 2:38 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Hickory Avenue and 380TH Street, one mile east of Sioux Center, IA.
Austin Solsma, age 16, of Alton, IA, was driving a 2004 Buick Le Sabre westbound on 380TH Street. Brian Flores, age 27, of Hull, IA, was driving a 2005 Jeep Cherokee southbound on Hickory Avenue. Solsma failed to stop at the stop sign at Hickory Avenue, entered the intersection and the two struck.
Flores reported minor injuries and declined further medical attention. Solsma and a passenger were transported by the Sioux Center Ambulance to the Sioux Center Health for treatment of their injuries .
Each vehicle sustained an estimated $10,000 in damage.
Solsma was cited for failing to stop for a stop sign.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Fire Department, Sioux Center Ambulance and Sioux Center Police Department.
