On Thursday, May 4, at 11:05 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Division Street and Black Forest Road (Highway 18), in Hull, IA.
Calvin Klarenbeek, age 68, of Hull, was driving a 2010 Bluebird school bus southbound on Division Street. Reagan Damstra, age 17, of Boyden, IA, was driving a 2016 Hyundai Sonata southbound on Division Street behind the bus. Both vehicles stopped at the stop sign at Black Forest Road. Klarenbeek backed the school bus and struck Damstra.
No injuries were reported.
There was no damage to the school bus; the Hyundai sustained approximately $3,000 in damage.
Klarenbeek was cited for unsafe backing.
