Motor vehicle accident south of Orange City – April 10

On April 10, at 4:55 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Jackson Avenue, two miles north of Orange City, IA.

Tyler Kroese, age 35, of Orange City, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pulling a flatbed trailer southbound on Jackson Avenue; he slowed to turn right onto a residential driveway. Darian Heronemus, age 18, of Orange City, was driving a 1999 Toyota Avalon southbound on Jackson Avenue, swerved to avoid striking vehicle behind Kroese, lost control of the vehicle, entered the west ditch and struck the flatbed trailer; after striking the trailer, Heronemus’ vehicle rolled.

Heronemus was transported by the Orange City Ambulance to Orange City Area Health for treatment of minor injuries.

The damage to the trailer was estimated at $2,000. The Toyota sustained approximately $3,000 in damage.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Orange City Fire Department, Orange City Ambulance and the Orange City Police Department.
