On Sunday, December 25, at 3:04 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and 380th Street, one mile north of Sioux Center, IA.
Katie Van Maanen, age 17, of Sioux Center, was driving a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on 380th Street, attempted to turn south onto Harrison Avenue, lost control of the vehicle, entered the ditch southeast of the intersection and rolled.
Van Maanen reported was transported by the Sioux Center Ambulance to Sioux Center Health for treatment of minor injuries.
The Jeep sustained approximately $5,000 in damage.
Van Maanen was cited for failing to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Ambulance, Sioux Center Fire Department and Sioux Center Police Department.
