Commercial motor vehicle accident causes power outage in Hull – December 8

On Thursday, December 8, at 10:33 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a commercial motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Division Street and Industrial Road, in Hull, IA.

Michael Block, age 61, of Sibley, IA, was backing a 2021 Peterbilt semi-truck attached to a 2022 Walker milk trailer from a parking lot onto Industrial Road when he struck a MidAmerican Energy Company electrical utility pole. The accident caused electrical wires to detach causing a power outage for a portion of Hull following the accident.

No injuries were reported.

The Peterbilt sustained approximately $6,000 in damage; the utility pole sustained an estimated $3,000 in damage.

Block was cited for unsafe backing.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Hull Fire Department.
