Motor vehicle accident west of Sioux Center – October 24

On Monday, October 24, at 3:29 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Garfield Avenue and 390th Street, two miles west of Sioux Center, IA.

Jessi Rus, age 16, of Rock Valley, IA, was driving a 2017 Ford Fusion southbound on Garfield Avenue. Brian Lamfers, age 60, of Rock Rapids, IA, was driving a 2001 Peterbilt semi-truck eastbound on 390th Street. Rus failed to yield from the stop sign, entered the intersection and the two struck.

No injuries were reported.

The Ford sustained approximately $15,000 in damage; the Peterbilt sustained approximately $12,000 in damage.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department, Sioux Center Fire Department and Sioux Center Ambulance.

Rus was cited for failing to yield from a stop sign.
