On Sunday, September 25, at 2:10 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of 480th Street and Garfield Avenue, three miles southwest of Maurice, IA.
Michael Johnson, age 58, of Ireton, IA, was driving a 2004 Ford F-150 northbound on Garfield Avenue. Gene Beitelspacher, age 76, of Le Mars, IA was operating 2019 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on 480th Street; the two met and struck in the intersection.
Johnson was transported by the Ireton Ambulance to Sioux Center Health for treatment of minor injuries.
The Ford sustained approximately $6,000 in damage and damage to the Chevrolet was estimated at $5,000.
Beitelspacher was cited for failure to yield the right of way at an uncontrolled intersection.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Ireton Fire Department, Ireton Rescue, Ireton Ambulance and Iowa State Patrol.
