Motor vehicle accident west of Boyden – August 1

On Monday, August 1, at 5:18 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 18, two miles west of Boyden, IA.

Richard Roemen, age 52, of Larchwood, IA, was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Express G2500 westbound on Highway 18. Elliot Dykstra, age 21, of Alton, IA, was driving a 2001 Ford F-150 westbound on Highway 18 behind Roemen. Roemen slowed for road construction and Dykstra stuck the Chevrolet.

Both drivers were transported by the Boyden Ambulance to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

The Chevrolet sustained an estimated $3,500 in damage. The Ford sustained approximately $5,000 in damage.

Dykstra was cited for following too close.

The sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Boyden Ambulance, Boyden Fire Department and Iowa State Patrol.
