Information sought in hit-and-run motor vehicle accident north of Sioux Center – July 7

On Thursday, July 7, at 5:42 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident that occurred on 360th Street at the BNSF Railway railroad crossing, two and one-half miles north of Sioux Center, IA.

Sadie Ymker, age 16, of Ireton, IA, was driving a 2013 Chrysler 200 eastbound on 360th Street when a white SUV traveling eastbound ahead of her suddenly heavily applied its brakes at the railroad crossing and Ymker struck the SUV. After the accident, Ymker pulled her vehicle off of the traveled portion of the roadway and the white SUV drove away without reporting the accident or returning to the area.

No injuries were reported.

The Chrysler sustained approximately $2,000 damage. The white SUV sustained damage to the rear area of the vehicle; the extent of the damage is unknown.
