On Sunday, June 26, at 2:57 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on 360th Street, two miles east of Hudson, SD.
Randy Nuzum, age 60, of Sioux Center, IA, was driving a 2005 Ford F-150 eastbound on 360th Street when he entered in the roadway, lost control of the vehicle, entered the south ditch and struck a MidAmerican Energy Company electrical utility pole.
Nuzum required extrication from the vehicle by emergency responders of the Hudson Fire Department and Hudson Rescue; he was flown directly from the scene of the accident to Avera Mckennan Hospital & University Health Center in Sioux Falls, SD, for treatment of his injuries.
The Ford sustained an estimated $5,000 in damage.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Rock Valley Police Department, Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Hudson Fire Department, Hudson Ambulance, Hawarden Fire Department and Hawarden Ambulance.
The accident remains under investigation.
