On Friday, May 20, at 2:32 pm, the Sioux County Sheriff’s office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 60 and 360th Street, four miles south of Sheldon, IA.
Shane Peterson, age 49, of Ashton, IA, was driving a 2016 Freightliner Pacer northbound on Highway 60. William Hollinger, age 27, of Manilla, IA, was driving a 2004 GMC Sierra pickup on 360th Street; he stopped for the stop sign at Highway 60 and then attempted to cross Highway 60 and the two struck.
The Freightliner sustained approximately $20,000 in damages. Damage to the GMC was estimated at $10,000.
Peterson and Hollinger were both transported by the Sheldon Ambulance to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
Hollinger was cited for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license, no motor vehicle liability insurance and failure to yield from a stop sign.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sheldon Fire Department and Sheldon Ambulance.
