On Thursday, May 12, at 5:17 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on 400th street, three miles north of Orange City, IA.
Santos Fragoso, age 60, of Albuquerque, NM, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Impala eastbound on 400th Street. Kyle Strom, age 28, of Granville, IA, was driving a 2009 Ford F-150 truck eastbound behind Fragoso. Ryan Hoekstra, age 45, of Orange City, was driving a 2006 Ford F-150 super crew pickup eastbound behind Strom. Bethany Vandam, age 38, of Orange City, was driving a 2007 Ford Expedition eastbound behind Hoekstra. A severe storm caused poor visibility conditions, Fragoso slowed his vehicle, Strom struck the rear of the Chevrolet, Hoekstra struck Strom and VanDam struck Hoekstra.
No injuries were reported
The Chevrolet sustained approximately $4,000 in damage. The Ford F-150 sustained an estimated $8,000 in damage. Damage to the Ford F-150 Supercrew was estimated at $9,000 and the Ford Expedition sustained approximately $10,000 in damage.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department and Orange City Police Department
