Two arrested as a result of traffic stop in Hawarden – May 7

On Saturday may 7, at 6:15 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested Chase Ranschau, age 21, and Kylen Powelson, age 18, both of Hawarden, IA.

The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop that occurred at the intersection of Highway 10 and Avenue E, in Hawarden.

Upon further investigation, the deputy discovered  that Ranscau’s driver’s license was suspended and discovered illegal drugs in the possession of Ranschau and Powelson, a passenger in the vehicle.

Ranschau and Powelson were both transported to the Sioux County Jail where Ranschau was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and third offense possession of marijuana. Powelson was charged with second offense possession of marijuana.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Hawarden Police Department.
