Three vehicles involved in motor vehicle accident – December 11

On Saturday, December 11, at 10:04 a.m., The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Highway 75, one half-mile south of Sioux Center, IA.

Chanch Palmer age, 39, of Ricketts, IA, was driving a 2020 Volvo semi-tractor pulling a trailer northbound on Highway 75. Phuc Phan, age 40, of Le Mars, IA, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox northbound on highway 75 behind Palmer. Justiniano Ramos, age 27, of Sioux Center, was driving a 2008 Ford Edge southbound on highway 75. Ramos lost control of his vehicle, entered the northbound lane and and struck Palmer and Phan.

No injuries were reported.

The Volvo sustained approximately $10,000 in damage.  The Chevrolet sustained approximately $1,000 in damage. Damage to the Ford was estimated at $7,000.

Ramos was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle without a valid drivers license.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Sioux Center Fire Department and Sioux Center Ambulance.
