On Saturday, November 13, at 3:07 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of 280th Street and Lily Avenue, one mile east of Matlock, IA.
Ashely Swets, age 27, of Hull, IA was driving a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan westbound on 280th Street. Gabriela Ahuatzi, age 33, of Le Mars, IA, was driving a 2010 Subaru Outback northbound on Lily Avenue; she stopped for the stop sign at 280th Street, drove into the intersection and the two struck.
Both drivers were transported by the Boyden Ambulance to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
The Dodge sustained approximately $10,000 in damage. Damage to the Subaru was estimated at $8,000.
Ahuatzi was cited for failing to obey stop sign.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Matlock First Responders, Boyden Fire Department, Boyden Ambulance, and Sheldon Ambulance.
