Motor vehicle accident – October 26

On Tuesday, October 26, at 6:52 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on 390th Street, two and one-half miles west of Sioux Center, IA.

A vehicle was stopped on the roadway waiting for oncoming traffic to pass before attempting to turn left onto a residence driveway. Juan Topete, age, 22, of Hawarden, IA, was driving a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta eastbound on 390th Street behind the stopped vehicle.  Topete swereved to avoid striking the vehicle, lost control of his vehicle, entered the north ditch and struck a North West REC electrical power pole.

No injuries were reported.

The Volkwagen sustained an estimated $4,000 in damage. The electrical equipment sustained approximately $3,000 in damage.

Topete was cited for following too close and no motor vehicle insurance.
