On Monday, October 25, at 2:04 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 18 (320th Street) and Hwy 75, two miles west of Hull, IA.
Karen Jurgens, age 81, of Hull, was driving a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe westbound on Highway 18; she stopped for the stop sign at Highway 75. John Mantel, age 76, of Doon, IA, was driving a 2014 Buick Encore northbound on Highway 75. Jurgens passed through a stop sign at Highway 75, entered the intersection and the two struck.
Jurgens, Mantel and a passenger in the Buick were transported by the Hull Ambulance to Hegg Health Center and Sioux Center Health.
The Hyundai sustained approximately $15,000 in damage. The Buick sustained approximately $25,000 in damage.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Hull Fire Department, Hull Ambulance and the Sioux Center Police Department.
The accident remains under investigation.
