Commercial Motor Vehicle accident – October 25

On Monday, October 25 at 4:36 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a commercial motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of 340th Street and Kingbird Avenue, two miles south of Boyden, IA.

Timothy Holthus, age 54, of Johnson, NE, was driving a 2003 Freightliner semi-tractor pulling a poultry trailer southbound on Kingbird Avenue. As Holthus turned from 340th Street onto Kingbird Avenue the trailer entered the west ditch and rolled.

No injuries were reported.

Damage to the Freightliner and trailer was estimated at $100,000.

Holthus was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa Department of Transportation Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement.
