On Tuesday, September 22, at 6:30 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested Elwyn Hoogendoorn, age 55, of George, IA, and Deryk Hoogendoorn, age 34, of Boyden, IA.
The arrests stemmed from a traffic stop that occurred on Kennedy Avenue, north of Boyden. The deputy knew that Deryk Hoogendoorn, a passenger in the vehicle, had arrest warrants for a prior domestic disturbance that occurred at a Boyden residence where a child was also present. Deputies arrested Deryk and the driver of the vehicle, Elwyn Hoogendoorn, interfered with the arrest of Deryk.
Elwyn and Deryk were both transported to the Sioux County Jail; Deryk was charged with domestic assault and child endangerment and Elwyn was charged with interference with official acts.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol.
