Vehicle strikes residence in motor vehicle accident – September 8 *Photo*

On Wednesday, September 8, at 1:01 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Jackson Avenue (county road K-64), two miles north of Orange City, IA.

Cody Mulder, age 38, of Hospers, IA, was driving a 2014 Honda CRV northbound on Jackson Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle, entered the east ditch, struck a fence and residence.

Mulder and a passenger were both transported by the Orange City Ambulance to Orange City Health for treatment of their injuries. The homeowners were not present when the accident happened.

The Honda sustained approximately $15, 000 in damage. The residence sustained an estimated $50,000 in damage.

Mulder was cited for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended drivers license and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Orange City Fire Department and Orange City Ambulance.
