On Monday, August 30, 7:14 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Main Street in Hospers, IA.
Howard Poppema, age 74, of Hospers was driving a 2011 Ford F-150 eastbound on Main Street when he experienced a medical issue, lost control of the vehicle and struck two parked and unattended vehicles; a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado.
Poppema was transported by the Hospers Ambulance to Orange City Area Health.
The Ford sustained approximately $4,000 in damage. The 2016 Chevrolet sustained an estimated $5,000 in damage. Damage to the 2015 Chevrolet is estimated at $600.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by Hospers Fire Department, Hospers Ambulance and Orange City Ambulance.
