Dangerous driving report leads to arrest – July 1

On Thursday, July 1, at 11:09 a.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested Douglas Hoppe, Jr., age 42, of Boyden, IA.

The arrest stemmed from a report of a vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 18 in a dangerous manner; at one point the caller reported that Hoppe drove into a ditch and then re-entered onto Highway 18, continuing to travel westbound.

The deputy was able to stop Hoppe on Highway 18 in Hull.

Upon further investigation, deputies suspected that Hoppe was under the influence of a drug.

Hoppe was transported to the Sioux County Jail where he was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (drugged).

The Sioux County Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) assisted in the investigation.
