On Thursday June 17, at 6:38 p.m. the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Chestnut Street and 1st Street, in Hull, IA.
Jesus Gonzalez, age 18, of Hull was driving a 2006 Jeep Liberty southbound on Chestnut Street. Shirley Wallinga, age 79, of Hull was driving a 2004 Buick LeSabre eastbound on 1st Street; the two met and struck in the intersection.
The Jeep sustained an estimated $7,500 in damage. The LeSabre sustained approximately $2,500 in damage.
Wallinga was transported by the Hull Ambulance to Sioux Center Health for treatment of minor injuries.
Wallinga was cited for failing to obey a yield sign and Gonzalez was cited for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Hull Ambulance.
