On Wednesday, June 16, at 3:32 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of 420th Street and Highway 75, one miles south of Sioux Center, IA.
Caitlin Post, age 25, of Ireton, IA was driving a 2008 Ford Escape northbound on Highway 75; she for other vehicle traffic before attempting to turn left onto 420th Street. Ginger Van Roekel, age 17, of Maurice, IA, was driving a 2003 Buick Century northbound on Highway 75 behind Post and struck the Ford.
The Ford sustained approximately $3,000 in damage. The Buick sustained an estimated $4,000 in damage,
Van Roekel reported minor injuries and was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel.
Van Roekel was cited for following too close.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department, Sioux Center Fire Department, Sioux Center Ambulance, Iowa State Patrol and Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement.
