On Monday, May 31, at 10:34 p.m., the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated a motor vehicle accident that occurred on 430th Street, one mile northwest of Orange City, IA.
Jessica Moerman, age 16, of Orange City, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Trailblazer eastbound on 430th Street when she reported that she swerved to avoid striking an animal on the roadway, lost control of the vehicle, entered the south ditch and rolled.
Moerman was transported by the Orange City Ambulance to Orange City Area Health for treatment of her injuries.
Damage to the Chevrolet is estimated at $7,000.
Moerman was cited for failing to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Orange City Police Department, Orange City Fire Department, and Orange City Ambulance.
